Experience:
April
2008 - September 2010
Manweiler Telecom
Consulting
Denver CO.
Design engineer/Construction Management
Performed
construction management inspection of construction crews building a 100 mile,
10g fiber optic network to 66 schools in the Boulder Valley School District.
Achievements include the design of a 12 mile cross- country aerial leg from
Boulder, CO. to Nederland CO., attaching a 288 fiber cable to an existing
Excel steel pole line, saving the client $60,00.00+. Designed alternate
routes for unanticipated hazards on the fly, as needed to maintain costs and
remain sensitive to environmental concerns. The BVSD project was completed
ahead of schedule and under budget.
Performed feasibility studies for Fiber networks
for the Cherry Creek CO. School District, Roswell, NM. School District,
Floydada TX School District, and the Farmington MO. School District.
May 2006 - April
2008 Power Engineers
Lakewood, CO.
Design Engineer/Field Engineer
Colorado Springs School District
Design, Construction Management Fiber Optic Network
66 schools connected on diverse network on leased fiber backbone from
public utility. Designed all OSP and ISP routes and infrastructure, obtained
all permits, RR crossing permits, field notes, CAD design, primary point of
contact for customer, internal crews, city governments, CSU Utilities
Communications crew, subcontractors.
POWER Engineers studied the feasibility of
alternate data network solutions for the implementation of a fiber optic
network capable of connecting 66 schools in the district. The study
determined the base-line cost to implement and maintain the network, provided
recommendations on the processes and best practices to achieve the goal of
implementation and operation, and forecasted the long-term savings of the new
fiber optic network. This was achieved by assessing the available carriers in
the area, identifying alternative routes from the school locations to the
carrier backbones, and determining the costs associated with broadband
services for each carrier. These connections provide the district with a
reliable, dedicated high capacity connection to all of their facilities while
leveraging existing, city-owned backbone infrastructure.
The network provides enhanced educational services
and equal educational access to district students. Advanced services enabled
by the network include distance learning, video conferencing, high-speed
internet access, telephone voice services, and data services.

Construction
Management-
Served as Chief Inspector for the construction of
a the fiber optic network, supervising a team of inspectors, coordinating
logistics with the foreman of the primary construction contractor. My
responsibilities included gathering all field reports, redline drawings, and
progress updates to Power Engineers, and the client. I was responsible for
approving all field changes to the original design. Project was tracked via
spreadsheet and highlighted plans. As- builts were then drawn and delivered
in Autocad format based on the actual field conditions and construction.

Design Engineer/Field Engineer
Took field
notes of existing plant and field conditions, for design by myself and
others, to provide new service and preserve network integrity. Projects
included subdivisions, road widening projects, arroyo conversions, fiber
optic F-1 projects, and BICS jobs. Responsibilities include state highway
permit drawings, design and drafting in OSP-FM, and Cimage; accurate field
notes, records research, LFACS research and analysis. Tenacious records
research resulted in saving the client in excess of $100,000.00.
